9/11

I don't get it.  Maybe it's because I am not a parent, but I've thought it was odd in the 6 years I've been here that there is no mention of 9/11.  No moment of silence.  Nothing.  Today I discovered it's because no one knows about it.  Parents aren't telling kids and we're not teaching it.

I once worked in a district that on every anniversary had a moment of silence.  Here, nothing.

When should we teach children, not about terrorism but heroes?  Those who gave their life to help others.  When should we teach them about not being afraid, but about how this country pulled together in the days and weeks following the attack?  When is it appropriate?

Excited-ish

Okay so I am moving. This is causing manic/depressive tendencies in me. I am excited to have a cute apartment. I am excited to have a bigger kitchen and walk in pantry. But it's Lansingburgh.... hmmmm....

Packing sucks.

New Kids on the Block

I never thought it would happen.... 20 years after my first NKOTB show, I attended another. RPI Field House, 9th Grade. Went with Mandy Scott. I had to work the show @ SPAC, so I figured I'd pop in on the lawn, hear a couple songs and head home... but with inside comps... Section 3 Row M... I dragged Nicole with me. I had so much fun!

California Boy

Okay, so I think that chapter of my life has finally closed.

Been a while....

I need to do this more often.

There are many things I need to do more often. Like laundry.

Where shall we begin? Okay, baseball. Manny's 50 game suspension. Really? LOL At least he's taking it like a man, or at least Manny.

Still hate A-rod. Can't believe he got a 3 run homer in his first pitch back.

May have a new favorite Jason.

Love that the Sox have swept all 5 games against the Yankees so far. If only they could beat the Rays once in a while. Thought I was going to have to kick Paplebon's ass last night. Made it a little too interesting for my liking.

What else? Work is work. Almost over. Just have to turn in my APPR by Friday and I am good to go. Started my summer job already. Interesting w/ a new manager. Weak line up this year as far as I am concerned.

Going to Disney June 26th w/ my sisters, brother-in-law and 13 yr old nephew.

Caught up with an old friend from grade school the other night. It was fun. Got to show off my baseball geekiness.

Vindicated

I cannot tell you how happy I am that I have been right all along. What's this? A-Rod tested positive for steroids back in 2003???? The year he was MVP and HR leader? No way, you can't be serious! (sense the sarcasm here??)

Let's stick a little * there, shall we?

I have never liked him and he is the reason (plus Randy Johnson & Brian Cashman) that I am no longer the Yankee fan I once was.

On happier notes, Jeff Kent is no longer playing and Tek was signed and passed his physical. I don't care if he hits .001 all season. He is the heart and soul of the Sox.

Okay, hopping off soapbox now!

Twilight

If you haven't yet, run to the nearest bookstore and buy the Twilight series. It is addicting and just a great story. Book 2, wasn't my favorite but it was emotional. Book 3 was my favorite and Book 4 was a love/hate thing. I didn't want it to end but wanted to know how it ended. It is the first book in a long time that has excited me. Probably since Harry Potter. I'll probably re-read it this summer while working @ SPAC. Read it people, read it!
